Prescriptions

Ordering repeat prescriptions

The easiest way to order repeat prescriptions is to register for the NHS WALES APP via the link at the top of this page;

You can also:

  • fax to 01495 234041
  • post including a stamped addressed envelope so we can post your prescription back to you
  • bring the paper form to the surgery, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm

We do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone or email.

Collecting your prescription

You can usually collect your prescription from the pharmacy 3 to 5 working days after you have ordered it.

You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.

You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:

  • on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
  • at your GP practice
  • at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions

Please also note that requesting other items which are not listed on the ‘repeat treatment slip’ will also cause a delay and while sometimes such a prescription is issued, you may be asked to arrange to see a doctor.

If you think you need emergency contraception (the ‘morning after’ pill). It CAN wait until the next day. You simply contact the surgery and ask for an URGENT APPOINTMENT. You DON’T have to explain why.

Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

If you have any prescription queries and would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription please email us at enquiries.W93067@wales.nhs.uk and someone will be in touch with you as soon as possible.

Medication reviews

If you have a repeat prescription, we will ask you to come in for a regular review with the Practice Pharmacist. We will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.

What to do with old medicines

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

About pharmacists

The majority of pharmacies across Wales are able to offer Choose Pharmacy Services.

Choose Pharmacy is a system that supports community pharmacies to provide services for patients and the public and aims to free up GP appointments for people with more complex needs.

Please click on the link below for the list of common ailments that pharmacists may be able to treat:

They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.

Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
